Governor Hyacinth Iormen Alia makes his speech at the Bsuth Summit 2024
In a gesture reflective of both benevolence and foresight, Governor Hyacinth Iormen Alia has bestowed a gift of two billion naira to inaugurate a cutting-edge cancer center at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH). This act is not merely a donation but a profound statement on the values of compassion and dedication to the well-being of the people.
Governor Alia, attuned to the profound suffering caused by cancer in sub-Saharan Africa, reaffirmed his administration's unwavering commitment to superior healthcare. He pointed to the increased health budget for 2024 and the strategic approval of over 500 new staff members for the hospital as tangible steps towards this goal.
The governor extolled the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Stephen Hwande, recognizing him as an "amazing gentleman" and a visionary leader capable of propelling the institution to unprecedented heights. In less than a year, Dr. Hwande's exemplary strides have already started to shape a promising future for the hospital.
Governor Alia pledged ongoing support to help the hospital realize its aspirations. He also announced the institution of an annual scientific exhibition to foster awareness and focus on cancer research and treatment. This dual initiative of generous funding and sustained support underscores a profound commitment to transformative healthcare and heralds a future of even greater achievements under Dr. Hwande's inspiring leadership.
